We’re looking for a skilled Senior AI Developer (Serverless & AWS) based in Cape Town to join our AI & Automation team, building intelligent, serverless solutions that power marketing automation at scale.

About the Role:

You'll work at the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure, and modern software engineering to design agent-based systems that deliver measurable impact.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on AWS-native architectures, language models and autonomous agents. You’ll be part of a distributed, cross-functional team shaping how AI transforms marketing.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and deploy AI-driven systems and agents using AWS serverless services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, EventBridge, etc.)
  • Integrate and fine-tune LLMs via Amazon Bedrock and apply NLP techniques for real-world use cases
  • Design and optimize prompts to enhance LLM performance
  • Work with vector databases and integrate data pipelines for structured and unstructured data
  • Ensure secure, scalable, and cloud-native architectures using infrastructure as code
  • Collaborate across engineering and data teams to deliver production-ready solutions
  • Apply architectural best practices (stateful vs. stateless, serverless vs. containerized)

What You Bring:

Essential Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, 2+ in AI/ML
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda, S3, IAM, Bedrock, Step Functions, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Proven experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and AI agent design
  • Solid Python skills and experience with Git/GitHub workflows
  • Understanding of serverless architectures and MLOps practices
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from planning to deployment
  • Cloud-native mindset with a preference for managed services and infrastructure-as-code approaches
  • Comfortable working in agile, distributed teams

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with LangChain, CrewAI, LangGraph, or similar agent frameworks
  • Familiarity with vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB)
  • Knowledge of model training, fine-tuning, or frameworks like PyTorch/TensorFlow
  • Relevant AWS certification(s) like AWS Certified AI Practitioner
